vegas east attorneys is proud to announce that Alicia Exley has received a Circle of Support Award from the Clark County Bar Association for demonstrating exceptional dedication to community service.

The Circle of Support Award was created by former Clark County Bar Association President Dara Goldsmith to signify the strength of the volunteers, the idea being that if one is missing, the circle is incomplete. The awards are presented to individuals each year who prove themselves to be invaluable to their bar committees, going above and beyond the call of duty.

In 2018, Alicia helped to plan the community service activities that the CCBA held throughout the year and attended nearly all of the committee meetings. Alicia then attended and participated in almost all of the community service activities planned by the CCBA community service committee, including volunteering at Three Square Food Bank and the “Blanket the Homeless” event.

Congratulations to Alicia for an outstanding year. Alicia practices primarily in family law, family law appeals, personal injury and civil litigation. Alicia primarily works out of the Henderson office.

Additionally, vegas east attorneys is pleased to welcome Carmen Amen, Esq., to its office. Carmen will primarily practice from the Family Court office. Carmen Amen graduated from Texas Tech School of Law in 1998. She served as the Las Vegas Latino Bar Association President in 2016. Currently she proudly serves as corporate counsel to the Latin Chamber of Commerce Nevada Inc. Carmen is the daughter of an immigrant father from Peru and a mother who came to the United States from Puerto Rico. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas and has always had strong ties to the Latino community. It has been her passion to serve the Latino community in Las Vegas for several years. Whether you have family law issues, a personal injury or a small business, Carmen is able to assist you with your legal needs in Spanish. She will advocate for you and make sure you are treated fairly and equally in court and in business negotiations.

Curtis R. Rawlings, Esq. will continue working out of the Henderson office and focusing on family law, insurance defense, complex civil litigation and personal injury. Curtis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1995 and his Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1998. Curtis has been licensed to practice law in Nevada since 1999. Curtis is admitted to all state and federal courts in Nevada, is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, State Bar of Nevada, Family Law Section and is a member of the Clark County Bar Association. Curtis serves as an arbitrator in the Court Annexed Arbitration Program addressing contract and personal injury cases.

Jennifer Poynter-Willis, Esq., also works out of the Henderson office and has been practicing in Las Vegas since 2005. Jennifer obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2000. After receiving her Juris Doctorate degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2004, Jennifer clerked for Family Court Judge Stephany Miley. Before practicing law, Jennifer was an Internal Control Analyst in the gaming industry. Before joining vegas east attorneys, Jennifer practiced primarily in complex divorce and custody litigation, as well as Family Law appeals. She has taught custody and divorce classes at local Las Vegas domestic violence shelters and previously supervised Boyd School of Law students who taught divorce and custody classes to the public. Jennifer received several awards from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada for her work on Pro Bono cases. Jennifer is a certified Parenting Coordinator and can assist parties in resolving co-parenting issues prior to court intervention. Jennifer is a Transition into Practice mentor through the Nevada State Bar and helps new admittees transition during their first year of practicing law. Jennifer is a seasoned attorney and practices primarily in complex and contested family law matters.

Carli L. Sansone, Esq., received her J.D. from the William S. Boyd School of Law and her B.A. in psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In law school, Carli earned CALI Awards in animal law for her article on dog breed-specific legislation and in bioethics for her article on parental rights in gestational carrier arrangements. Before joining vegas east attorneys, Carli served as the law clerk to the Honorable Vincent Ochoa, Judge in the Eighth Judicial District Court, Family Division. Carli also served as an extern for the Honorable Adriana Escobar, Judge in the Eighth Judicial District Court.

Carli’s article titled “Family Court Judicial Process” was published in the December 2018 issue of the Clark County Bar Association’s publication, Communiqué. Carli’s article covered the process that takes place behind the scenes after an attorney submits a proposed order or decree to a department. Additionally, in 2018, Carli secured a position as an editor for the Communiqué. As an editor, Carli’s duties include participating in the creation of the editorial calendar, review and approval of proposed content for the magazine, and editing of submitted articles and content prior to publishing.

Before pursuing the law, Carli worked for several years as a customer service representative in the travel and leisure industry. In her free time, Carli enjoys weight training, scuba diving, golfing, and spending time with her family. Carli practices out of the Henderson office and concentrates on family law, personal injury and business related matters.
