NEVADA MARRIAGE MAY CHANGE WITH SAME SEX MARRIAGE CLOSER TO BECOMING A REALITY IN NEVADA

With the passage of Senate Joint Resolution 13 during the 77th Legislative Session, the definition of marriage in Nevada is a step closer to changing.  Marriage was defined as being between an man and a woman in Nevada with elections in 2000 and 2002.  SJR 13was introduced by State Senator Tick Segerblom and allows for the recognition of marriages between two people regardless of gender.  SJR 13 will have to be passed again during the 78th Legislative Session in 2015.  Upon passage in 2015, SJR 13will then go before the voters in 2016 for ratification.
