Do Angels Marry Devils?

A wise family lawyer once said, “Angels don’t marry devils.” Through this comment the lawyer made clear that there are two sides to every divorce and that, in most family law cases, neither party is free of wrong doing. But, is the statement true? Do angels avoid pairing with devils?

Scanning data from the US Census Bureau’s 2014 American Community Survey, blogger Dorothy Gambrell put this question to the test. Her findings are both enlightening and surprisingly intuitive. What Gambrell found was that high earning women such as doctors, lawyers and executives tend “to pair up with their economic equals, while middle and lower-tier women often marry up.” On the other hand, chief executive males seem content with marrying their secretaries. Males in other occupations were also seen to marry women in lower-tier positions. On the whole, the census data showed that women “marry up” more than men.

So, does this data answer the question as whether angels marry devils? The answer truly depends upon your perspective.
